Stick Length

The question of proper stick length for the player is one that surfaces regularly and there are many opinions out there as to the “right answer”.

The player needs to feel comfortable with the length and not sacrifice puck handling for a harder shot (or vice versa). Experimenting is important, the issue becomes one of economics in this day and age. The price of a stick, unfortunately, is much steeper than it was 20 years ago. So, like good carpenters, “measure twice and cut once” is definitely an adage to adapt as you cut length off of a stick. Little bits at a time are recommended in many articles relating to finding the proper length. A stick serves many purposes in the game, so experiment lots to get the optimum length for your game.

The attached link is an excellent one to read over to get the facts about decision making in length. Happy reading!
